(Batesvilles, Ind.) - Batesville is one of 10 cities in America where the artwork of street artist Kelsey Montague is featured in Forbes Magazine.
The article titled, “10 Unforgettable Murals: See Kelsey Montague's Bigger-Than-Life Artwork Throughout The US” highlights just a few of the many murals from Montague in hundreds of cities and small towns throughout the country.
Kelsey Montague spoke about her experience in Batesville, "I was so grateful they agreed to the bright orange background of my dreams, and I was so touched when so many members of the community came out to see the unveiling of both murals!"
The Batesville murals were commissioned and made possible by Mayor’s Youth Council, Batesville Main Street, Ripley County Community Foundation (RCCF), Hillrom, Gillman Home Center, Batesville City Council, Enneking Painting Company, and private donations.
“This is really exciting to see a project in Batesville appear in a major publication like Forbes and it all got started by Batesville Mayor’s Youth Council and Main Street who have worked so diligently to bring more art to downtown,” said Mayor Mike Bettice.
Montague created the murals in July with designs selected by the community. The first mural at Miss Shannon’s Music Studio is a tree swing which was selected after a public survey conducted by Mayor’s Youth Council. The second mural on Hillrom’s Training Center depicts monarch butterflies to symbolize the company’s Monarch cystic fibrosis therapy device.
